On Wrist Bands

My wrist bands These are my wrist bands. The white wrist band was given to me by Bald Runner when I donated my shoes for his shoe donation program. It is a “ONE” wristband that stands for poverty eradication around the globe (More on http://www.one.org). The other… well… haha! It’s a piece of string. The kind that you get when you make the halfway mark on road races. Usually, they give out plastic straw (either in green or pink or yellow). What I do is that I run it around my wrists so that it doesn’t hang and since I also don’t like putting it around my neck. I feel like I’d get strangled or something.

I don’t really remember which particular race I got it from but if I’m not mistaken, it was the Pasig Run sponsored by Unilever. In that particular 5k run that I joined, I remember myself walking almost half the route… and to think it was only 5k! I ran, then jogged… then started walking, then tried running… then ended up walking the entire way. I decided to just admire the view of… HAHA! Roxas Boulevard. The bay wasn’t even anywhere in sight. But still, how often do you get to walk a length of Roxas Boulevard, right?

Anyway, this brown piece of string perhaps reminds me of finishing everything that I find myself into. Even if I have to slow down. Again, what is important is that I finish. The nice thing about running, you set your own pace. You decide whether you want to go in strong, or go at a leisurely pace. I’ve been wearing this piece of string for several weeks now. I wear it when I run, when I go to the gym, hahahaha! Yes, even when I go out at times. It serves as a good reminder for me somehow, on keeping my eyes set on my goal and making sure that I finish. :D
