Makiling Challenge

Posted in running events with tags , , , on September 16, 2008 by Passion Runner

This was definitely a challenge… Rememebr my post last June when Coach Rio brough several of us with him to Los Baños for a long run [click here for previous entry] ? It was the same route! This time around, I was familiar with the course and in fact dreading it the moment I realized on the morning of the race that we were going to reach the Makiling Arts Center.

2008-09-14-makiling-challenge-07.jpgThe race start was at Baker Hall, then up to the Jamboree sight of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, then up to the Art Center. The first time I ran here, I did not even try to reach the viewing deck since I was already exhausted… but for the MAK7, I had no choice. Hehe.. I had a consolation though… everyone else was walking! Woohoo! I was not alone 😀

I’ll be posting my recap of the event probably later or tomorrow morning. Stay tuned. Enjoy these pictures for the time being. I really should get myself a digicam. I keep on photograbbing. These photos are from Cathy Daza (a common friend, whom I realized is one of the new members of Happy Feet) and from Carla Intal (a friend of Jihan Osorio-soon-to-be-Tan, hehe!).

I have actually more to say… but I’ll be late AGAIN for class. Haha

A running adventure… UP Los Baños, Tagaytay

I had a running adventure with my friend Ivan. The plan was to go on a road trip to UP Los Baños to be able to run on campus, then head up to Tagaytay the next day to run from Sta. Rosa all the way up to Tagaytay. The adventure started when it started to rain cats and dogs. We left my house in Parañaque around 4pm (originally, we were supposed to leave 1pm, but the rain would not let us). We found our way to Buendia to take a Bus en route to Sta. Cruz. We didn’t know that there was a terminal somewhere near the Buendia MRT station that we boarded a bus that was passing through EDSA. We ended up standing for over 2 hours for the duration of the trip and we were freezing! The bus air-conditioner was hitting us straight in the face, as well as our hands as we were trying our best not to fall over as the bus was moving. The trip seemed longer than it actually was! When we got to Los Baños, it was already 8:30pm. No way we could run anymore.
